Test your barcodes before printing
Made a barcode on this site or somewhere else? Print one copy on the same printer and labels you'll use, then scan the printout here. If the scanner reads it straight away and the number matches, it encodes correctly. If it struggles, try a bigger bar width, darker bars, or a wider blank margin. See our UPC sizing guide.
Tips for a fast scan
- Fill about half the frame with the barcode and hold steady.
- Use good, even light. Glare on glossy labels blocks the bars.
- Tilt the camera slightly if there's reflection.
- For tiny 2D codes, move closer until the code is in focus.
What it can't do
We show what's encoded in the barcode, but we don't look up product names or prices, because that needs a commercial product database. For GS1 numbers, you can check who a GTIN is registered to with GS1's "Verified by GS1" service.
